Halo wedding goes off with a hitch.

Posted on 06 February 2009 by admin

haloweddingMTV News coverd an interesting wedding in Orlando, FL recently. They were there to catch a Full Sail gradutes wedding on film, a Halo themed wedding. The wedding was a part of this year’s Otronicon festival, an annual video game festival sponsored by Full Sail University. They were ceremoniously united as “Teamates for life” by Master Chief himself. The bride and groom even went head to head in a tournament while the bridesmaids and groomsmen competed for the garter and veil.

Replica ‘Portal’ gun is made of awesome.

Posted on 21 January 2009 by admin

portal-fun

This thing is pretty sweet. Fans of the game Portal will appreciate this fine piece of craftsmanship. Which is made from florist’s foam, wonderflex, bondo, PVC pipe, LED lighting, roll-feed paper spindle, an old drawer pull,  and coaxial cable connectors just to name some parts. Graphics were made in photoshop and applied with decal paper.

More shots here.

Crazy Diablo 3 conspiracy.

Posted on 15 January 2009 by admin

I am just re-posting this as it has been on a bunch of Diablo forums and fan sites. But the amount of thought that went into this is absurdly geeky. The amount of time that went into this is insane.

Read for yourself and see.

–START–

Please, don’t judge this before you read it through and think about it! I finally, after several months of extensive research have found the true secret that Diablo carries. Please bare with me.

Believe it or not but the secret of diablo 3 is within the Dol rune. By now, you are all probably thinking wtf this guy is trolling. But before you discredit me let me show to you this jaw-dropping truth. The stats of a Dol rune:

Weapons: Hit causes monster to flee 25%
Armor: Replenish Life +7
Helms: Replenish Life +7
Shield: Replenish Life +7

Halo 3 involved in blame game.

Posted on 14 January 2009 by admin

Petric argued that Halo 3 made him insane.

Petric argued that Halo 3 made him insane.

17 year old Daniel Petric, of Ohio, killed his mother and wounded his father in October of 07, after they took his copy of Halo 3, is what the judge has ruled.
His defense team went for the insanity plea, which the judge rejected citing that he had been planning the shooting for weeks. He had to get his fathers key to open the lock box to his 9mm.

His father Mark, who was shot in the head and survived, testified that his son came into the room and asked: “Would you guys close your eyes? I have a surprise for you.”

He said he expected a pleasant surprise. Then his head went numb from the gunshot.

The Associated Press news agency reports that Microsoft, which owns the intellectual property for the game, declined to comment beyond a statement saying: “We are aware of the situation and it is a tragic case.”

He faces life without parole as a maximum sentence.
What do you think, what implications will this have on the gaming community if this becomes a large case with media attention?

Use the ‘force’ for $100

Posted on 13 January 2009 by admin

forceWell not really.

What you see here is an “EEG” based toy to convince either you or your offspring that the force is with you(or them). This is one of the first mass market toys to use brain to computer control. A simplified version of EEG read by the users headband will help you to raise a ping-pong ball up the tower, which rises 10 inches from the base. The technology was created by NeuroSky and should be implemented in more games before the end of the year.

Star Wars sound effects and audio clips emitted from the base unit “cue you in to progress to the next level (from Padawan to Jedi) or when to move the sphere up or down to keep challenging yourself,” Adler says.

It looks like you will be able to get your heads on this thing from Uncle Milton for about $100 this fall. Untill then may the simplified force be with you.

Teen arrested becuase of WoW GM

Posted on 12 January 2009 by admin

WoWLootWorld of Warcraft game moderators are watching you.

A 17-year-old Fairfield Twp. teen pretended to be suicidal when he became frustrated with an online video game, Fairfield Twp. police reported..

According to officials, the teen was arrested Monday, Dec. 29, for inducing panic after patrol officers and medics responded to the boy’s home in the 3000 block of Pimlico Court. The charge is a first-degree misdemeanor.

The panic? The teen had earlier approached a GM with threats of being suicidal if he did not receive some loot. Hoping the GM would be sympathetic, but rather he ended up calling the authorities. Serves the kid right.

So he gets no money, no weapons, just a court date instead. The full story is here.

NVIDIA shows off GeForce 3D Vision

Posted on 08 January 2009 by admin

nvidia_geforce_vision_3d_610x444Look for something to drive your new Samsung monitor or 120Hz 3D HDTV? Enter NVIDIA’s GeForce 3D Vision package, loaded up with powered 3D glasses (no red / blue silliness here, charged via USB) and an IR emitter to keep everything synced between the display and your glasses. Left 4 Dead, WoW: WotLK and several other games are already compatible with more expected to come soon. CES had a quick demo and didn’t notice any of the headaches sometimes associated with stereocopic 3D, but at $399 for the display and $199 for this set when it’s available in the next few days, we’re not sure how close we want to get to those zombies, but WoW fans may see things differently.
